Study Abroad and Gain Skills and College Credit

Why Participate in a Teen Study Abroad Program with Teens Abroad:
• To broaden one's foreign language skills
• To experience life and culture in another country
• To immerse oneself into intercultural exchange both academically and through unique, personalized experience program
• To combine travel, academics, and adventure into one incredible life-changing experience
Enjoy! Seeing another country, meeting people from around the world, eating new foods, understanding different lifestyles and gaining problem solving insights … can be fun! At least that is what 95% of our students tell us.

Getting the chance to take classes in a foreign country is literally, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Many people do travel to Europe in their lifetimes for work or for a vacation, both of which are wonderful experiences but very different.  Teen studies abroad allow your teen to experience new things with their peers, make new friends, and discover new places with new people. In addition, when teens study abroad, they are a step ahead of their peers in terms of cultural experiences, and they have an opportunity to learn a new language, in the native country, and earn college credit. Additionally, when you choose Teens Abroad, it will mean a safe experience with the staff at Teens Abroad who will supervise your teen while they are away.

Another positive of
teenagers studying abroad is that it will push you to do something out of your comfort zone. This positive could be thought of a negative for some, but I like to view it as a positive.  Being forced to do things out of your comfort zone are often the most rewarding experiences, things you've done your whole life won't make very significant memories.  Going on adventures as part of your teen study abroad program and experiencing another country’s culture brings rewards that are not taught in a traditional classroom setting. Student exchange programs provide students with opportunities that they simply could not get anywhere else. Whether students want to travel in order to earn credits, broaden their horizons or experience a new culture, there are plenty of benefits to be had. Traveling to another country while on a general study abroad program for teens, a French language camp program for teens, a Spanish language immersion program for teens, or any of the other great teenager study abroad programs that Teens Abroad offers is a perfect way to fully understand that country’s culture. Visiting other countries can give students a greater appreciation for different ways of life while expanding their education beyond the typical college setting. For example, a student studying a foreign language might want to spend time in a country where that language is widely used not only for the language benefits but for the customs that go with the language.
The most important positive is that you will be able to show your future bosses after participating in a teen study abroad program and a language immersion abroad program is that you are a risk taker in life! You are willing to adapt in a foreign country and still take classes and do well!  It also shows that you have an international perspective on things!  Global companies as well as United States based companies and businesses are looking for candidates that stand out, take chances, and have a broad base of experiences, beyond high school. These companies like to see that their future employees have an international experience!  Thus study abroad for teens is great for your résumé and career too!  It will open a lot more doors and make you stand out among your competition!
Fieldtrips and excursions are an important part of the Teens Abroad experience. At least once or twice a week teens are taken to see the sights, participate in cultural exploration and travel to tourist spots, chaperoned by local program staff.
Teens Abroad also offers Medical and Health related study abroad programs.
The objective of the Medical Language and Immersion program is to enhance foreign language and intercultural skills through a combination of general language training, focused vocabulary and cultural immersion. Most programs combine 1-3 weeks of foreign language classes with insight into local medical systems and practices. When an intermediate or higher level in the language is reached, students may have the opportunity to visit, observe, shadow and even take part in activities at local clinics or hospitals.
